Peter Molyneux hints at potential Black & White remaster

Game designer Peter Molyneux has suggested that a remaster of the legendary god-simulation series, Black & White, may be in development. While speaking with PC Gamer about his current project, Masters of Albion, Molyneux noted, “I think there are people working on a Black & White remaster. But it would be inappropriate for me to talk about it.”

Molyneux clarified that he does not own the intellectual property rights to the franchise. The rights to Black & White 3 are held by Electronic Arts, while Microsoft holds the rights to Black & White 4. Consequently, his studio, 22cans, is not directly connected to the series.

The series has maintained a cult following, with the original title currently topping the GOG Dreamlist. Molyneux also addressed why a third installment never materialized, citing the immense technical challenges of developing the game's unique interconnected systems and the difficulty of convincing major publishers to invest in the niche god-game genre.
