Peter Navarro reports online attacks over India-Russia oil trade criticism

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro reported facing intense online hostility following his criticisms of India’s trade policies and its purchase of Russian oil. Describing the digital backlash as being ‘firebombed’ by the Indian continent, Navarro urged critics to cease the ‘nasty little attacks,’ stating that such behavior is not how problems are resolved in the United States.

Navarro, an adviser to Donald Trump, has been a vocal critic of New Delhi’s energy acquisitions since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. He has accused India of facilitating the financing of Moscow’s war efforts through its oil trade, previously labeling the country the ‘Maharaja of tariffs’ and a ‘laundromat for the Kremlin.’ The administration has signaled potential retaliatory tariffs in response to these energy imports.
