Peter Obi addresses governance and political circle ahead of 2027 elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has made several public statements regarding governance and his political circle ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a social media post, Obi urged Nigerian youths to translate their passion for European football into a demand for better national governance. He argued that the success of European football is a product of functional systems, infrastructure, and accountability, suggesting that Nigeria possesses the talent but lacks the leadership and enabling environment necessary to develop its own competitive sporting and economic sectors.

Separately, presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala alleged that Obi has replaced former associates, including Kenneth Okonkwo, Balami, and Valentine Ozigbo, with social media content creators. Bwala claimed that Obi now appears embarrassed by the conduct of these new associates as political activities intensify leading up to the 2027 election.
