Peter Odemwingie addresses 2013 West Brom-QPR transfer saga

Former Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie has reflected on his controversial 2013 transfer deadline day saga involving West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers (QPR). Odemwingie, who was famously filmed outside QPR’s Loftus Road stadium in an attempt to force a move, claims the incident was misunderstood and that media coverage by Sky Sports did not present the full story.

Odemwingie stated that the transfer collapsed because West Brom introduced a late condition to the negotiations, involving QPR midfielder Junior Hoilett as part of a potential exchange. He denied that his appearance at the stadium was a deliberate attempt to create a spectacle, calling such suggestions “stupid.”

The failed move led to Odemwingie being disciplined by West Brom, for which he later apologized. He had originally joined the West Brom side in 2010 from Lokomotiv Moscow.
