Peter Odemwingie advises Super Eagles on fitness and hydration

Former Super Eagles forward Peter Odemwingie has urged current Nigerian national team players to prioritize physical fitness and proper hydration as the new football season approaches.

As various European leagues prepare to resume, the Super Eagles are scheduled to regroup in September for the first international break of the season. This period will mark the beginning of Nigeria's qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Under the guidance of coach Eric Chelle, the team aims to secure a place in the tournament following recent performances, including a runner-up finish at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Odemwingie emphasized the risks of poor lifestyle choices, specifically noting that excessive alcohol consumption can lead to dehydration. He suggested healthier alternatives, such as coconut water, to maintain peak condition.
