Peter O'Toole, legendary actor with eight Oscar nominations, dies at 82
Peter O'Toole, the British actor best known for his role as T.E. Lawrence in the 1962 film "Lawrence of Arabia", was born on 2 August 1932 in Leeds. Over a six‑decade career he appeared in dozens of films and television series, earning eight Academy Award nominations without a win – a record he shares with Glenn Close – before receiving an honorary Oscar in 2002. He was celebrated for his charismatic performances, his friendship with fellow actor Richard Burton, and his marriage to Welsh actress Siân Phillips. O'Toole also worked with Czech director Ivan Passer and appeared in the Czech‑British co‑production "Panství". He died in London in 2013 at the age of 82.
