United States proposes trilateral Ukraine-Russia talks in UAE
The United States has proposed a technical-level trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. to discuss ending the ongoing conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated that the United Arab Emirates has been suggested as a potential host for these discussions, and Kyiv is currently awaiting a formal proposal from Washington regarding a specific date.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that both Kyiv and Moscow have expressed preliminary interest in a limited ceasefire, specifically targeting the energy and grain sectors. This diplomatic push aims to address critical issues such as the security of Black Sea shipping routes and the protection of energy infrastructure, which has been a frequent target of attacks.
Separately, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol expressed regret over President Zelenskyy’s public disclosure regarding the transfer of two North Korean prisoners to South Korea, calling the matter highly sensitive for regional security and diplomacy. Ukraine defended the disclosure, stating it only confirmed the fact of the transfer rather than revealing the entire process.
