Peter Schiff claims AI poses a threat to Bitcoin

Peter Schiff, a long-time Bitcoin critic, has argued that artificial intelligence (AI) poses a significant competitive threat to Bitcoin. Rather than acting as a catalyst for the cryptocurrency, Schiff suggests that AI and Bitcoin are competing for the same limited resources, including speculative capital, electrical power, and data center infrastructure.

Schiff noted that he has avoided owning Bitcoin for approximately five years and does not regret the decision, claiming that long-term holders (HODLers) have missed opportunities by failing to sell during price peaks. He further suggested that advanced AI systems could potentially discover technical vulnerabilities or cryptographic flaws in Bitcoin's code that have remained undetected by humans.

While the debate highlights a growing competition for energy and computing capacity—as some Bitcoin miners shift resources toward high-performance computing for AI—it remains unproven whether AI will pose a direct threat to Bitcoin's underlying security protocols.
