Legendary radio presenter and commentator Peter Urban has announced he is ending his ‘Peter Urban Show’ on NDR 2. The 78-year-old broadcaster announced his decision during his radio program, stating that he chose to end the show of his own accord and is doing well.
Urban is widely recognized for his long-standing role as Germany’s commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest, a position he held for 25 years from 1997 to 2023. His career with NDR spans 52 years, beginning during his time as a student. Throughout his tenure, he interviewed major musical figures including Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, and Yoko Ono.
NDR honored his contribution, noting that his expertise as a music editor has shaped generations of journalists. The ‘Soundcheck Neue Musik’ program will temporarily occupy his former time slot.
