Peter Wasserscheid receives Archimedes Science Award for hydrogen research
Professor Peter Wasserscheid has been awarded the 2026 Archimedes Science Award for his pioneering work in hydrogen technologies. The award, which includes a 50,000 euro prize, recognizes his contributions to chemical hydrogen storage.
Wasserscheid holds the Chair of Chemical Reaction Engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and serves as Director of the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energies and the Institute for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy. His research has established essential foundations for the safe and cost-effective handling of hydrogen within existing fuel infrastructures, supporting the broader energy transformation and climate protection efforts.
The award is presented annually as part of the ‘Building Bridges’ international conference, organized by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf in coordination with the State Chancellery of Saxony.
