Peter Windsor criticizes energy management at Zandvoort Grand Prix

F1 analyst Peter Windsor expressed significant disappointment regarding the Dutch Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort, citing critical energy management issues that impacted racing quality.

Windsor noted that even a circuit characterized by fast, flowing corners has become heavily dependent on battery deployment. He described the sprint race as “banal and boring,” noting a lack of meaningful overtaking opportunities. While Charles Leclerc managed to overtake Lando Norris on soft tires, other key battles, such as Max Verstappen attempting to pass Oscar Piastri, failed to materialize.

According to Windsor, Red Bull Racing’s energy management decisions contributed to Verstappen’s struggles. He observed that the technical requirements of the cars forced drivers to prioritize battery recovery over pure pace, effectively turning sections of the technical circuit into managed straights.
