Petersfield Repair Café launches with East Hampshire climate grant
The Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) has launched the Petersfield Repair Café at Avenue Pavilion, supported by a £10,000 grant from the East Hampshire District Council’s Community Climate Action Fund. The volunteer-run initiative meets on the last Saturday afternoon of every month, allowing residents to have broken items repaired and learn DIY repair skills.
To date, more than 200 people have participated, bringing over 150 items for assessment or repair. Beyond the café, the grant has funded various public engagement activities organized by PeCAN, including riverbank maintenance, educational talks, and a screening of the ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ attended by MP Damian Hinds.
East Hampshire District Council noted that such networks provide practical support for residents to reduce their environmental impact. The next round of applications for the Community Climate Action Fund is scheduled to open on September 4 and close on October 5.
