Petilia Policastro officials address water supply and turbidity issues
Officials in Petilia Policastro have met with regional authorities to address ongoing water supply issues and high water turbidity caused by heavy rainfall. During a technical meeting at the Cittadella regionale in Catanzaro, the Mayor of Petilia Policastro, Simone Saporito, and Vice Mayor Carmelo Garofalo met with directors from Arrical and Sorical to seek solutions for the aging infrastructure.
The administration reported that frequent intense precipitation in mountainous areas has repeatedly compromised the water system. To address immediate concerns, Sorical has committed to installing a double turbidity meter at the 'Michelangelo Tavernesi' water treatment plant in the Marrate area. This new sensor is intended to detect altered parameters in the Sole River more quickly, allowing for the timely blocking of water flow to prevent contamination of filters and tanks.
