Petimex investigated for massive undocumented fuel sales and financial losses
The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam has uncovered significant legal violations at the Dong Thap Petroleum Trading Joint Stock Company (Petimex). An inspection revealed that the company sold approximately 185 million liters of petroleum, valued at roughly 2,841.8 billion VND, without invoices or documentation to prove the origin of the products.
These actions have been identified as having signs of criminal offenses, including tax evasion, smuggling, and accounting violations that cause serious consequences. The inspectorate has transferred the case files to the Ministry of Public Security and the Dong Thap Provincial Police for investigation and prosecution.
Additionally, the inspection found that Petimex sold petroleum to six foreign partners at prices lower than accounting costs, violating the company’s own sales regulations and state capital management laws. This activity resulted in an estimated loss of 322 billion VND. The inspectorate has recommended further investigation into potential violations regarding the management and use of state assets, which may lead to waste and loss.
