Petition launched to protect donkey Marcello in Gargallo

A petition signed by over 30,000 people has been launched to prevent the removal of Marcello, a donkey living in Gargallo, in the province of Novara. Some local residents have filed a formal complaint with the municipality, requesting the animal be relocated because his braying is loud enough to disturb their sleep.

Supporters of the donkey argue that Marcello has become an integral part of the community and brings joy to residents. Isabel Schiavio, who drafted the petition, emphasized that animals have rights and should be respected, especially when they pose no threat or damage to the community. The owner noted that braying is a natural behavior for the animal.
