Petko Miletić: Montenegrin communist and political figure

Petko Radov Miletić (1897–1943) was a Montenegrin communist and political figure. Born in Močilo, he studied carpentry in Pécs, Hungary, under a scholarship from the Kingdom of Montenegro. During his time in Hungary, he adopted socialist and communist ideologies, becoming a member of the Communist Party of Hungary and participating in Béla Kun’s revolution in 1919.

Upon returning to Montenegro, Miletić joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) in 1919. He was later expelled from the party due to internal rivalries with Josip Broz Tito. A delegate for Danilovgrad at the founding conference of the KPJ for Montenegro in 1920, he was active in electoral campaigns and faced clashes with police in Nikšić. He eventually joined insurgent and guerrilla movements against the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes before dying in a Soviet Gulag in Siberia in 1943.
