Petnjica faces political crisis as DPS loses majority

The local government in Petnjica, led by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), is facing a political crisis characterized by a lack of a stable majority for key decisions. The municipal assembly has faced repeated delays in holding sessions, specifically regarding the discussion of the municipality's final accounts for the previous year, due to a consistent lack of quorum.

Opposition members, including Almir Muratović of the Party of Justice and Reconciliation, suggest that the absence of DPS councilors indicates significant internal dissatisfaction and a loss of decision-making power. They have criticized the current administration for the slow implementation of essential development projects.

In response, Petnjica Mayor Samir Agović stated that the executive branch remains functional with a stable budget and no debt. He attributed the assembly's inactivity to a routine summer break and annual leave for non-professional councilors. Agović expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved through internal party discussions following the holiday period.
