Petnjica hosts symposium on Bihor historical narratives

The international scientific symposium ‘Bihor 1939–1948: Narratives, Myths and Historical Truth’ was held from August 6 to 9, 2026, at the Culture Center in Petnjica. Organized by the Institute for History, Demography and Anthropology of Sandžak, the event focused on the period between 1939 and 1948.

The symposium provided a platform for scientific examination of the experiences and fates of the Bosniak population during this era. Discussions emphasized the importance of distinguishing direct testimony from later additions to historical narratives and the necessity of verifying inherited interpretations, regardless of political protections. The event aimed to address historical gaps and allow for the preservation of human destinies that may not be fully captured in official records.
