Petr Pavel launches 17th Beskydská sedmička ultramarathon
The 17th edition of the IMOS Beskydská sedmička ultramarathon commenced on August 28, 2026, in Třinec. Approximately 3,000 runners from 14 different countries participated in the 101-kilometer race, which features a total elevation gain of 5,500 meters through the Beskydy Mountains.
Czech President Petr Pavel attended the starting line to launch the event and praised the organizers. He described the logistical undertaking of managing thousands of participants, medical services, and supply stations across such a long distance as a ‘nearly superhuman task.’
The competition underwent a format change this year, moving away from duo categories to focus exclusively on solo runners. Despite challenging weather conditions, including nighttime storms and heavy rain, the race proceeded, with Tomáš Maceček securing the men's stage victory.
