Petr Pavel visits Czech community in Nebraska
Czech President Petr Pavel concluded his visit to the United States with a trip to Nebraska, a state home to a significant Czech-American population. Approximately 4–5% of Nebraska's residents claim Czech ancestry, the highest percentage in the U.S.
Pavel visited Wilber, known as the ‘official Czech capital of the USA,’ where he was greeted by local residents at a community hall. The visit included a lecture at the University of Nebraska and meetings with local officials, including Wilber Mayor Roger Chrans, who presented the President with a symbolic key. The event featured traditional Czech music, food, and cultural celebrations.
