Petr Rikunov wins Tour de Langkawi stage four at Cameron Highlands
Russian cyclist Petr Rikunov of the Wheeltop Rotor Chengdu team won the fourth stage of the Tour de Langkawi with a solo attack. Following a 142.3-kilometer route from Meru Raya to the summit of Cameron Highlands, Rikunov launched a decisive acceleration approximately 800 meters from the finish line.
Rikunov finished three seconds ahead of Spain’s Javier Ibáñez and nine seconds ahead of France’s Alan Jousseaume. Jousseaume, representing TotalEnergies, noted that while he was pleased with the podium finish, he felt he lacked the necessary explosiveness in the final climb after expending significant energy earlier in the day.
In the general classification, German rider Lennart Jasch of the Tudor Pro Cycling Team maintained his overall lead. The stage featured a breakaway of six riders who held a maximum advantage of over four minutes before being partially reabsorbed by the peloton.
