Petra Christian University Sets 99‑Hole Golf Record in Surabaya

Petra Christian University (UK Petra) broke the Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record by completing a 99‑hole golf marathon in a single day. The achievement was part of the university’s 65th anniversary celebrations and surpassed the originally planned 90‑hole challenge. Sixteen participants played consecutively across four Surabaya courses – Ciputra Golf, Graha Family Golf, Bukit Darmo Golf and Pakuwon Golf – with university rector Prof. Rolly Intan praising the collective effort.

The event also served charitable goals: prize money and donations were earmarked for scholarships, theatre development and other educational projects. East Java Golf Association chair Mochamad Rizal highlighted the marathon’s potential to boost golf’s ecosystem in the region, while organizer Teddy Salim described the logistical strain of traffic and the medical support required for participants ranging from 21 to 77 years old. The funds raised are expected to benefit remote‑area education initiatives.
