Petra Dvorský Festival opens in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou
The 28th edition of the Petra Dvorský International Music Festival began on 1 August with an opening gala concert in the church of St Marketa in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou. The programme featured Japanese soprano Inoue Shiki and Slovak baritone Daniel Čapkovič, accompanied by the Ústí nad Labem Theatre Orchestra under conductor Norbert Baxa. Festival director Jakub Pustina opened the event, noting that the festival’s namesake, Slovak tenor Petra Dvorský, could not attend due to health reasons.
The multi‑city programme will continue through 8 August with concerts in Žďár nad Sázavou, Třebíč, Valč and other historic venues across the Vysočina region. Local officials, including regional governor Martin Kukla, mayor Jaroslav Soukup and priest Tomáš Holcner, welcomed attendees. The festival typically draws over 2 500 visitors, and tickets have nearly sold out for this year’s performances.
