Petra Volpe’s drama Frank & Louis to premiere at FilmFest Hamburg

Petra Volpe’s new drama, ‘Frank & Louis’, will have its German premiere at the FilmFest Hamburg on September 26. Following successful screenings at the Sundance and Locarno film festivals, the film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release in Germany on December 10, distributed by Constantin Film.

The film follows Frank (played by Kingsley Ben-Adir), an inmate serving a life sentence who seeks parole by joining a program called the ‘Gold Coats.’ In this program, inmates care for fellow prisoners suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. What begins as a self-serving attempt to improve his chances of parole evolves into a profound relationship between Frank and an elderly inmate, Louis (played by Rob Morgan), providing both men with dignity and hope.
