Petralia Soprana receives regional funding for urban planning

The municipality of Petralia Soprana has been granted a 55,000 euro contribution from the Sicilian Region to assist in drafting a new General Urban Plan (PUG). This funding, authorized by a regional decree on October 19, 2026, aims to modernize the town's territorial planning and governance.

The total cost for the project is estimated at approximately 104,000 euros, excluding VAT and additional charges. The municipality will cover the remaining costs using its own resources. The development process will involve hiring professionals to conduct various specialized studies, including geological, agricultural-forest, hydraulic compatibility, demographic, socio-economic, and archaeological assessments, as well as a Strategic Environmental Assessment.

Currently, the town's urban planning is governed by a Building Plan dating back to 1979, with a separate Recovery Plan in place for the historic center.
