Petrarca and Rovigo face off in rugby Coppa Italia derby

The 205th ‘Derby d’Italia’ in rugby is set to take place this Saturday at Centro Geremia as Petrarca and Rovigo face off in the Coppa Italia. The match marks the 14th time these rivals have met in this specific competition.

The two teams enter the derby with contrasting objectives and recent forms. Rovigo holds a perfect record in the tournament following victories against Cus Torino and Parabiago, and is currently competing for the championship title. In contrast, Petrarca is in a rebuilding phase with a focus on youth and is aiming for league survival.

Petrarca coach Jimenez noted that while the team will fight hard, their current season perspectives differ significantly from Rovigo’s. Rovigo coach Davide Giazzon warned against underestimating the opponent, stating that the intensity of a derby often defies recent form.
