Petre Daea defends sheep export lift and reveals PSD salary, pensions

Former agriculture minister Petre Daea said the ban on export of ovine and caprine products, imposed by the European Commission due to a peste des petits ruminants outbreak, could be lifted if Romania provides the data required by EU authorities. He argued the disease is known, a vaccine exists and the decision rests on technical criteria, not politics. Daea called for the Ministry of Agriculture, ANSVSA and livestock breeders to meet and align with EU requirements.

He also disclosed that the Social Democratic Party pays him a monthly net salary of 9,000 lei and that he receives two state pensions – a former deputy pension of 6,000 lei and a contributory pension of 7,000 lei – totaling about 13,000 lei. His remarks came as shepherds protested in Bucharest demanding the resignation of ANSVSA leadership and relief from the export ban.
