Petrich historical reenactment commemorates 1925 border conflict
Over 200 participants gathered near the Belasica mountain hut to perform a historical reenactment of the 1925 Petrich incident. Organized by the Aramii Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Petrich, the event aimed to recreate the events of October 1925, a period of significant tension and conflict in the Bulgarian border region.
The demonstration included more than 120 individuals portraying military and historical figures, while approximately 80 participants recreated the local population. The reenactment utilized authentic uniforms, historical costumes, and reconstructed living environments to depict the defense of Petrich and the movement of Greek troops toward the village of Drangovo.
The historical incident began on October 19, 1925, following a border skirmish between Bulgarian and Greek military personnel. This led to a Greek military incursion into Bulgarian territory, resulting in the occupation of several villages before the League of Nations intervened to resolve the dispute.
