Petrinja hosts 1002nd millennial photograph for Tigrovi brigade
To commemorate the 36th anniversary of the founding of the 1st Guards Brigade ‘Tigrovi’ and the 19th anniversary of the 1st Mechanized Battalion ‘Tigrovi’, the 1002nd millennial photograph, titled ‘Za Hrvatsku kao Tigar’ (For Croatia like a Tiger), was captured in Petrinja.
Created by academic photographer Šime Strikoman, the project involved 180 people and required two days of scene setting, utilizing four Patria vehicles and Petrinja firefighters to assist with shots from a height of 30 meters. Strikoman described the work as participatory art intended to serve as a permanent historical record and a ‘document of time and people’ for the official register.
The event held symbolic weight for the brigade, which has seen over 11,000 members throughout its history. Warrant Officer Tomislav Gorec emphasized the importance of the photograph for future generations to understand the sacrifices made during the Homeland War, while soldier Nikola Ivanković noted the importance of preserving the memory of veterans and history for younger members of the military.
