Petroșani railway station incident investigated after objects placed on tracks
A freight train operated by Rail Cargo Carrier encountered objects placed on the tracks at the Petroșani railway station in Romania on Sunday around 16:10.
According to the National Company of Romanian Railways (CFR), the train first encountered a dismantled and lifted DAM plate, a device used to assist switch maneuvering. Subsequently, a concrete slab belonging to a cable channel was identified on the line.
Preliminary findings suggest unauthorized intervention regarding the railway infrastructure. The Railway Police have been notified and are conducting investigations at the scene to identify those involved. CFR warned that such actions are extremely dangerous, as placing objects on tracks or interfering with installations can cause serious accidents, damage rolling stock and infrastructure, and jeopardize the safety of rail traffic and personnel.
