Petrobras advances gas projects in Colombia and FPSO negotiations in Brazil

Petrobras is advancing several major energy projects in South America. The company may include the Syrius natural gas project in Colombia in its 2027-2031 business plan, provided it secures necessary environmental licenses and completes consultations with local communities. Operated in partnership with Ecopetrol, the Syrius project features an innovative design using a subsea pipeline to transport methane gas directly to the coast without requiring an offshore platform.

In Brazil, Petrobras has entered commercial negotiations with the Malaysian company Yinson for the P-88 FPSO, intended for the Albacora field in the Campos Basin. Following a technical validation of Yinson’s US$ 2.29 billion proposal—the lowest among several bidders—the company will now negotiate commercial terms. The unit is expected to produce 120,000 barrels of oil per day and process 4.3 million cubic meters of natural gas daily, with production anticipated after 2031.
