Petrobras and PRIO shares fall as oil prices retreat
Petrobras and PRIO shares experienced declines on Tuesday, diverging from a rising Ibovespa. The downturn followed a reversal in international oil prices; Brent crude, which had reached a five-month high of US$ 111 per barrel due to geopolitical risk premiums involving Houthi attacks and Gulf maritime tensions, retreated to US$ 106.46.
Despite recent volatility, analysts remain optimistic regarding Petrobras's long-term value. Production data from the ANP shows the company reached 2.96 million barrels per day in September, exceeding previous estimates. This strong performance in the pre-salt layers has led institutions like Bank of America to project a market capitalization exceeding R$ 900 billion, suggesting the market may be underestimating the structural gains of these assets.
