Petrobras cuts natural gas price 0.9% and raises aviation kerosene 1.9%

Petrobras announced a temporary volatility‑protection mechanism that will lower the average price of natural gas sold to distributors by 0.9% starting 1 August, provided all distributors participate. Without the mechanism, the price would have risen about 11.8% versus the previous quarter. The scheme ties gas pricing to Brent crude and Henry Hub benchmarks, with Brent up roughly 23.3%, Henry Hub down 15.4% and the exchange rate appreciating 4.0% in the reference period.

At the same time, Petrobras increased the price of aviation kerosene (QAV) by 1.9% (R$0.09 per litre) effective 1 August, reversing recent monthly declines of 14.46% in July and 14.2% in June. The April price hike of 54.63% had been linked to the Middle‑East conflict. The Brazilian government is reviewing an extension of the temporary PIS/Pasep and Cofins tax exemption on QAV until the end of the year.
