Petrobras halts fuel sales to Rede Sol over alleged PCC links

Petrobras stopped selling gasoline and diesel to the fuel distributor Rede Sol after the company was named in the Operation Carbono Oculto probe, which investigates possible money‑laundering ties between Rede Sol and the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). The São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office says a fund linked to the criminal organization bought Rede Sol debentures, prompting Petrobras to cite compliance and risk‑management reasons, especially after the United States classified the PCC as a terrorist group.

Rede Sol denies any involvement with the PCC and claims the Petrobras decision was driven by pressure from rival distributors and the U.S. political label. The distributor has taken the case to the Tribunal de Contas da União, which initially dismissed the complaint as a private dispute but later ordered hearings to assess the impact on essential public services that rely on the fuel supply.
