Brazil hits record oil production for third consecutive month
Brazil has achieved a record oil production for the third consecutive month. According to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), oil production reached 4.615 million barrels per day (bpd) in August, representing an 18.4% increase compared to August 2025.
Total production of oil and natural gas combined reached 6.002 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). The pre-salt region remains the primary driver of this growth, accounting for 82.6% of total production, with 3.842 million bpd of oil and 177.58 million cubic meters per day of natural gas.
To support this expansion, Petrobras has dispatched the P-80 platform (also known as Búzios 9) from Singapore to the Búzios field in the Santos Basin. The platform has the capacity to produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day and process 12 million cubic meters of gas daily. The P-80 is the first of six massive platforms intended to bolster Brazil's position as a major energy exporter, with production expected to begin in 2027.
