Petrobras posts record Q2 2026 profit and approves R$ 17.4 bn dividend
Petrobras reported a net profit of R$ 52.4 billion for the second quarter of 2026, a 96.8% increase year‑on‑year and the third‑largest quarterly profit in its history. Production reached a record 3.34 million barrels of oil‑equivalent per day, with refinery utilization above 100% and diesel output up 9.3%.
The board approved a dividend payout of R$ 17.4 billion, equal to 45% of free cash flow, to be paid in two instalments in November and December 2026. CFO Fernando Melgarejo said an extra dividend is “very unlikely”. Shares fell about 2% after the results were released.
Petrobras also confirmed that the federal diesel subsidy for the quarter amounted to R$ 9.73 billion, helping keep domestic fuel prices stable. In a separate update, the company said there was no progress on the Mataripe refinery acquisition talks with Acelen. The firm reiterated its target to bring gross debt down to US$ 65 billion.
