Petrobras proposes new 142km oil pipeline through Cotia

Petrobras has presented the OBAPI Escuros project to the Municipal Council of Environment and Agriculture in Cotia. The proposed 142.4-kilometer oil pipeline aims to connect Barueri to Cubatão, replacing the existing Barueri-Utinga pipeline that has been in operation since 1974 and currently suffers from corrosion.

The new pipeline will transport heavy petroleum derivatives, such as bunker fuel used by large vessels. The project includes 21 valve block areas and a fiber optic monitoring system. In the municipality of Cotia, the route spans 13.4 kilometers and is expected to affect 82 areas. This includes 47 properties subject to administrative servitude, 31 occupied houses, and five vacant properties.

Additionally, the project involves 172 crossings of watercourses. Petrobras has indicated that measures will be taken regarding land acquisition and the relocation of residents where necessary.
