Petrobras targets diesel self-sufficiency in Brazil

Petrobras President Magda Chambriard announced that the company aims to achieve diesel self-sufficiency in Brazil. Under the current 2026-2030 business plan, the company intends to meet 90% of the domestic diesel market, an increase from the current 70%.

Chambriard noted that Brazil possesses a highly reliable refining infrastructure capable of meeting national demand during supply shocks, such as those caused by conflicts in the Middle East. She emphasized that Brazil is a reliable oil producer with a mature regulatory framework.

Additionally, the company is expanding into new petroleum frontiers, including the Equatorial Margin and the Pelotas Basin. Chambriard also mentioned natural gas discoveries in Colombia made in partnership with Ecopetrol.
