Petroecuador declares force majeure after SOTE pipeline fire
Petroecuador has declared force majeure following a fire at pumping station number four of the Trans-Ecuadorian Oil Pipeline System (SOTE) in Baeza. The incident, which occurred on October 1, forced a temporary suspension of crude oil pumping.
Technical teams are currently working to repair the damaged infrastructure. Petroecuador expects to normalize crude oil pumping by October 9, aiming to restore the continuity of the country's hydrocarbon value chain.
Specialized units, including the National Hydrocarbon Crimes Investigation Unit and the Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR), are investigating the circumstances of the fire to determine responsibilities.
