Petrohan-Okolchitsa case: Mother of victim accuses expert psychologist of bias
Ralitsa Asenova, the mother of Nikolay Zlatkov who died in the Petrohan-Okolchitsa incident, has leveled serious accusations against criminal psychologist and expert witness Rosen Yordanov. Following a joint briefing by the prosecution and the Ministry of Interior, Asenova questioned Yordanov’s impartiality and professionalism.
Asenova challenged Yordanov’s claim that he had remained silent since being appointed as an expert in March 2026, citing a public interview he gave in July that defended the investigation's version. She also criticized his behavior during the press conference, describing it as arrogant and dominant. Specifically, she disputed his findings regarding the physical condition of the deceased and his characterizations of the group's social dynamics.
During the briefing, Yordanov presented psychological analysis suggesting Ivaylo Kalushev was a central, controlling figure in a hierarchical community. Yordanov also made several definitive claims regarding motives and personalities involved, including labeling Kalushev a “100% pedophile.” Asenova has called on the prosecution to review whether Yordanov can continue to serve as an expert witness in the case.
