Petrohan Pass receives first snowfall of the season
The first snowfall of the season has occurred at the Petrohan Pass in the Stara Planina mountains. Heavy snowfall was reported during the early morning hours when temperatures dropped below zero. The incident caused green tree branches to fall onto the roadway, but road management teams cleared the debris and snow, making the route fully passable.
Authorities in Montana maintain a restriction on vehicles exceeding 12 tons in weight or 12 meters in length through the pass. While the pass experienced heavy snow, similar conditions were noted at the Aleko hut on Vitosha mountain, where precipitation fluctuated between wet snow and rain due to unstable temperatures and fog.
Meteorologists note that October snowfall in high-altitude mountain regions is a normal seasonal occurrence. Forecasts indicate clearer weather with temperatures rising above zero in the afternoon.
