PETRONAS allocates RM28 million for Sarawak student sponsorships

PETRONAS has allocated approximately RM28 million to sponsor more than 100 young Sarawakians for higher education this year. The recipients will attend leading domestic institutions, such as Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, as well as various universities abroad.

Akmal Liza Ahmad, PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Education and Human Capital Investment, stated that the investment is a strategic move to develop human capital and nurture future national talent. The initiative was highlighted during the PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Excellent Student Awards Ceremony in Kuching.

Beyond direct scholarships, PETRONAS is implementing several other educational initiatives in Sarawak. These include the Discover PETRONAS @ Schools program and a collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak to distribute 60 Mobile STEM Kits to schools across 30 districts. Additionally, Yayasan PETRONAS has supported professional development for educators and adopted 10 schools in the region to provide laboratory improvements and student innovation support.
