Petropar alcohol plant processes 197,000 tons of sugar cane

Petropar’s alcohol plant in Mauricio José Troche, Guairá, has surpassed 10 million liters of alcohol production during the 2026 sugar cane harvest. After 82 days of operation, the state-owned company reported processing 197,023 tons of sugar cane.

The current harvest campaign, which began early this year, involves approximately 2,000 registered cane growers. Petropar initially estimated a total processing goal of 520,000 tons for the entire season. The operation is expected to inject over 98 billion Guaranies into the economies of the Guairá, Caaguazú, and Caazapá departments.

Beyond direct production, the activity supports a broad supply chain including transport, harvesting, and commerce. Officials estimate that more than 40,000 families benefit indirectly from this productive chain. Petropar management has implemented weekly monitoring visits to ensure operational efficiency and process quality.
