Petroperú announces new leadership and executive appointments
Petroperú has announced significant leadership changes. Luis Alberto Suárez Carlo, an engineer and lawyer with over 40 years of experience in the hydrocarbons industry, has been appointed as the acting general manager of the state-owned oil company. His appointment is scheduled to take formal effect on August 15, 2026, with the aim of strengthening operational and commercial management to ensure national energy security.
Separately, Oliver Stark, who was named president of Petroperú last week, has been identified as a board member of the gold processing company La Joya Mining. While the official announcement regarding Stark's presidency did not mention this role, La Joya Mining has not yet informed the Superintendency of the Securities Market (SMV) regarding whether he has resigned from his position. La Joya Mining operates a gold processing plant in Arequipa and exports gold bars to Austral International FZE, a refinery based in the United Arab Emirates.
