Petroperú clarifies oversight findings at Talara Refinery

Petroperú has issued a clarification regarding safety management and oversight at the Talara Refinery following a control report. The state-owned hydrocarbon company stated that the more than 1,600 records cited in the Osinergmin Institutional Control Body report should not be interpreted as physical failures, defective equipment, or unsafe operating conditions.

Instead, the company explained that these records consist of documentary observations identified during various stages of the project's development. Petroperú is addressing these observations progressively in accordance with the requirements set by the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin).

Regarding progress, Petroperú reported that 100% of the records related to the Design, Procurement, and Pre-commissioning stages have been addressed. Work continues on the Construction stage, which has reached a 76% completion rate in resolving observations. Additionally, the update and implementation of the Safety Risk Study (ERS) is currently underway and has already received favorable opinions for the project's initial units.
