Petroperú detects ninth illegal connection to Northern Peruvian Pipeline
Petroperú has detected a ninth clandestine connection to the Northern Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) in the province of Sechura, Piura. The illegal connection was found at kilometer 806+855 of Section II. During inspections, officials discovered a valve, a two-inch hose, and other equipment used for the illicit extraction of crude oil. While no oil spill was detected at this specific site, the company warned that such activities pose significant risks to the integrity of the pipeline, the environment, and public safety.
In related business developments, ProInversión has called for a second auction of Petroperú assets, featuring 10 properties valued at approximately US$ 25 million. This comes as the company manages significant debt exceeding US$ 7 billion and faces liquidity constraints following the loss of historical financing access.
