Petros Gaidatzis wins World Rowing Championship gold

Petros Gaidatzis has become the World Champion in the lightweight single sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam. The 26-year-old Greek Olympian secured the gold medal with a time of 6:47.77, following a strong performance where he overcame an early lead by Germany’s Fabio Kreß to take control of the race at the 750-meter mark.

Uruguayan Felipe Klüber Ferreira took the silver medal with a time of 06:51.50, while Alexis López-García of Mexico earned the bronze with 06:52.06. This victory marks Gaidatzis’s second major title this season, following his European Championship gold in Varese.

In addition to the individual success, Greek rowing saw further achievement as Gabriela Lioliou and Lila Mouratidou won the silver medal in the lightweight double sculls at the same championships.
