PetroTal highlights sustainable paiche fishing at Peru Summit

At the 2026 Sustainable Peru Summit, PetroTal presented its sustainability initiatives in the Loreto region, where it has operated the Bretaña Field of Lot 95 since 2018. A central focus of the presentation was the Fishery Innovation Project, which promotes the sustainable fishing of wild paiche in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

The project has enhanced the capabilities of local fishermen, who now produce value-added products such as paiche burgers, nuggets, and specialty cuts. These items are sold under the ‘King Bretaña’ brand in various stores and restaurants across Iquitos, Pucallpa, and Lima.

Additionally, PetroTal highlighted other regional support efforts, including assistance for plantain flour producers, specifically working with women from the company Las Puinahuinas SAC, and ongoing conservation efforts within the Pacaya Samiria reserve.
