Petrotrade denies customs evasion allegations at Alexandria Port
Petrotrade, a petroleum commercial services company, has denied social media allegations claiming it misclassified a shipment of crude oil as contaminated water to evade customs duties at Alexandria Port.
The company clarified that laboratory analyses conducted under the supervision of the Alexandria Port Authority’s Environmental Protection Department confirmed the shipment consisted of 985 tons of contaminated water and petroleum waste. The results showed that water and insoluble carbon materials accounted for 96% of the shipment's content.
Petrotrade stated its role was limited to technical supervision and sample collection for testing. The client was responsible for the safe transport and disposal of the waste through approved entities, following all legal, environmental, and customs procedures. The company has initiated legal action regarding the false claims circulating online.
