Petroupoli Mayor requests transport improvements and wildlife safety measures
Petroupoli Mayor Vaggelis Simos has approached Greek government officials to address several urgent municipal issues. In a meeting with Deputy Minister of Transport Giorgos Kotsiras, the Mayor requested increased bus frequencies, especially during peak hours, and the introduction of modern bus technology to alleviate commuter difficulties. He also proposed a new bus line to connect Petroupoli and neighboring municipalities directly with university campuses in Zografou and the University of West Attica. Additionally, the Mayor discussed the potential development of an underground municipal parking facility.
Separately, Mayor Simos has issued an urgent plea to the Ministers of Environment and Energy, as well as Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, regarding the uncontrolled movement of wild boar within residential areas. The Mayor reported that the animals are frequently sighted in public squares, parks, playgrounds, and near schools, posing a direct threat to citizen safety and increasing the risk of traffic accidents. He noted that the issue affects much of Western Attica due to its proximity to Mount Parnitha (Poikilo Oros) and requested immediate intervention from the relevant ministries.
